Video: The Central Dogma of Biochemistry

The key theme of all of biochemistry is that biological molecules are responsible for the storage and transmission of inherited information, provide the structure with which cells and organisms are built and carry out the functions necessary for life. The principle behind cloning is that
every single cell carries all genetic material to make a whole new organism. This animation shows where the DNA is inside the nucleus of each of our cells. We look at how the DNA is duplicated ("replication") to form new cells. We locate genes and learn their function. We also investigate the transcription process, in which RNA Polymerase gets mRNA from the DNA. Finally we study the translation process, involving ribosomes to get large proteins, which can be anything from keratin to amylase.
